Challenge
Walbridge asked us to provide a pre-construction budget based on our years of expertise that would fit within the existing budget. We needed to use our mechanical design expertise and fold in concurrent process design development sequences to adapt to the needs of the project. Most importantly, we needed to lead the job from start to finish.
Solution
Leveraging decades of experience within the automotive industry and our strong partnership with Walbridge, we were able to proactively anticipate challenges that might arise in the course of the project.
We met the design requirements with a configuration and components that provided maximum value to our customer without sacrificing the end product or the budget. We were able to provide the real-time cost impacts of specific choices, thanks to our cost matrix and detailed conceptual designs built in our integrated design platform.
Process
We used Autodesk Revit to design 3D building information models, provide cost analysis throughout the project, and create a plan for just-in-time delivery of custom components to the job site. We use it at every stage of the project cycle to help us see the bigger picture of how everything will come together, and the impacts of specific choices on elements around it.
We also used:
- Automated and custom fabrication through our integrated shop
- Total station system and hanger layout
- Material handling and delivery
- Installation verification
- Commissioning documents
