Challenge
Due to One Campus Martius's unusual height for the area and its close proximity to other buildings, transporting and maneuvering materials to the job site was trickier than normal. We needed to create a plan to navigate compromised project logistics and get components to the right location safely while working around many other trades.
Solution
We used a detailed fabrication schedule based on the coordinated model to ensure a just-in-time delivery of components. There was no room to store components we weren't using immediately, so we worked with Walbridge and other skilled trades to share a tower crane and buck hoist elevator to move materials. Our detailed installation sequence made it easier to coordinate a schedule with the other contractors.
Process
Thanks to our VDC capabilities & in-house BIM experts, we created a fabrication schedule to deliver job site materials at specific times when we could use the crane and elevator to transport them to the upper floors. With a high level of detail and foresight, our processes ensured components were finished and transported on schedule, allowing our team and other contractors to operate smoothly in a limited amount of space.
